The Story of Movies is an interdisciplinary curriculum which integrates language arts, history, social studies, music, art, and science with the study of film. The cross-curricular charts for each core unit are a lesson-by-lesson guide to how these disciplines dovetail with SOM's cinema literacy focus. This interdisciplinary approach allows students to tap their knowledge of other subjects as they learn to understand films within a cultural and historical context. The curriculum encourages critical-thinking through screenings, guided discussions, writing assignments, and group activity projects.
