International Film Classroom

In 2008, The Film Foundation expanded The Story of Movies to include the International Film Classroom program, a cultural exchange program sponsored by the United States Department of State. The program’s goal is to help U.S. educators, filmmakers, and preservationists share insights and knowledge with their counterparts in China, fostering a mutual appreciation of each culture as it’s expressed through film.

The program launched in May 2008 when a United States delegation traveled to Shanghai and ShangYu to visit schools and participate in discussions with partners at Shanghai University, Shanghai Film Archive, East Urban High School and Xie Tang Primary School.

Updates on the International Film Classroom, including information about the second phase of the exchange – the Chinese delegation’s visit to the United States in Spring 2009, and a Chinese Film Lesson for the Story of Movies’ educators – will be posted on the Web site in the near future.
